    Shipping a stripped lower.

Is there any restriction on having a lower shipped directly to me after it has gone thru the dros process and was in my possession? I want to take a couple of the stripped lowers that I have to a gunsmith in Utah for cerakote and instead of driving the 6 hours to pick them up can I have them shipped back once they are done? There will not be anything done to them other than the cerakoting. I don't want to break any of the numerous California or federal gun laws.

I think he needs to be an FFL before he can ship them back to you.

usps no labeling as a firearm on the shipping box. Gunsmith does need to be ffl and he can work on and ship direct to you.

Firearms can be legally shipped and received between the owner and a licensed FFL holder for repair and service. As long as you are the owner and you are sending the receivers to a licensed repair station for service it is completely legal under both Federal and California for you to do so. You can ship them via the US Postal service or one of the private carriers, FedEx or UPS.

Under US Postal regulations, a private person, (non FFL holder) cannot send handguns via the Postal Service, but can send long guns.

Ok, so does it matter if I drop them off for said repairs or am I required to only ship them?

You cant send a firearm to a non ffl. Dropping it off was ok, but if the guy in Utah isn't an FFL, you will need to pick them up.
