    Firearm transport question

I have the large Plano long gun case with a cable lock. The lock is the kind used for barrel locks on handguns.

It has enough room for me to carry my Siaga 7.62 and 22 Marlin rifles as well as my 22 and .45 handguns.

Is it legal for me to transport these 4 unloaded weapons in a vehicle in this one case?

My ammo will also be in the vehicle in an unlocked military ammo can.

    Thanks for any help.

I don't see an issue, heck you could have loaded mags with them also as long as they're not inserted into the tools.

I use a regular padlock on my hardcase. Someone else can correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is that there is no limit on the number of firearms that can be in one case while transport. Just no ammo in the chamber and no loaded mags in the magwell.

        I assume so... http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/Transporting

Reason I say I assume so is that a cable lock could potentially allow you to open the case (zipper or hard plastic) enough to remove a firearm and thus isn't really locked.

Your trunk (assuming you have one) is also enough to transport legally.

There is no limit to the number of firearms that can be inside a "locked container" and still be legal.

Personally I bought a bunch of small locks with the same key to put between the zippers of all my cases (neither car has a "trunk" [SUV and hatchback]) and feel confident I am transporting legally.

I have never locked a long gun in my life. Separate cases for my guns I have had and seen where two guns rubbed together and both were damaged, not worth it in my book. Hans guns get a locked case or just a cable.
