    P mag differences

I have been rooting around in my junk area in the garage to see what I have and want to toss.

I came across a bunch of old P mags. All are the same except for 2 of them. The ridge on the odd ones do not go to the top and the regular black followers stop about a 1/4" from the top.

Can anyone enlighten me on what these are ? I am getting too old to remember what these are.

hrmm that first mag on the left looks weird but heres a article on ar15.com shwoing the diff between gen1 and gen2

Before I upgrade all my P-Mags I thought I would take some pictures of all the generations of them to show the changes. Some I understand, some I don't. In all the pics, it is left to right Gen I, I

hcbr - thanks for the link. A lot of info there but it still doesn't address the ones I have.

They are real stamped Pmags but in the link it shows the sides of the different gens and all of them have small squares that are definitely raised on the sides of the mags and a vertical slot area that look like it was meant for a window.

The two that I have do not have that. They have larger squares and are almost smooth with the side of the mag. The big thing is the lower front rib in the mag. It will not allow a standard follower to go to the top.

I have ordered some new followers and I will see if they work.

In the meantime if anyone else can shed light on this I would appreciate it !
