    England's knife problem.

Seems England has developed a "knife culture".

England may be "legal gun free", but it isn't safe.

Yes, we all know that. England will soon be free of all knives that don't look like butter knives!

A fashion statement, give me a break, they carry knifes for two reasons one is the intent to commit crime, - the crimminal/thug element of that society, and two is the poor soles frightened to walk down the street with the probablity of becoming a victim, as a defence - you and i so to speak.

It truly is a dangerous place to live and venture out into.

Taking knifes away from people is just going to disarm the law biding citizens, leaving them more open to being preyed upon.

They've already taken away most of the guns already in England to my knowledge. Now once you've banned the guns, you'll need to move on to the next instrument that causes the most amount of violent crimes to prove to the general public that your politicians in office are making efforts to fight and curb crime. So in order to keep this fascade going, they'll just start banning certain types of knives until the only kind of knive you can legally own is a butter knife...

When I was working at a gun shop a couple years ago, I had the opportunity to talk with a gentleman from England. This guy was a firearms enthusiast and, to my surprise, told me he was still allowed to own several sporting guns and used a O/U 20 ga. for home defense. What I found most interesting is that he explained the black market for guns is alive and well and indicated that if one knew the right place to go, procurement of pistols and revolvers was not that difficult. He, of course, professed not to go that route because he was a law abiding citizen. Perfect example of gun laws only disarming those who follow laws in the first place.

In my opion a country is more civilized if the weapons available are more modern. In England they are taking steps back in time. Pretty soon they will be fighting each other with clubs and stones, just like in the caveman days.

They haven't disarmed me, yet. I'm here on business and I have my trusty Swiss Army knife with me. I'll be carrying it while I'm here for utility. I'm going to stay in the "good" areas of course - after all, the best prevention is avoidance if you can.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know if the gun related violence decreased? I guess I'm playing the devil's advocate here but i am really wondering if the ban on guns did anything.

Wow! I found your logic astounding! Um, just Wow! Did you think up that theory all by yourself?

A year or two ago, there was a ban in the UK of samurai swords, as they had become popular with thugs and criminals. The handgun ban in the UK came into place in 1997. Between 1998 and 2006, there have been 2 fatal shootings and 107 non-lethal shootings of police officers. There has also been a 110% increase in criminal firearms related injuries to civilians since 1997.

So yes, these kinds of figures prove that the banning of legally held firearms has absolutely no bearing on gun crime.

LOL. I very much doubt that. I don't have any relatives in the 5 to 9 years old age group.
