Stack-On 8 Gun Cabinet Opinions

Hey guys. So I was at the local Ontario gun show today and saw one of the larger business there was selling the Stack-On 8 Gun Cabinets for $99 cash price. I have been reading a lot of reviews online and it seems like a very good cabinet for the price. I like the fact that it is DOJ approved for firearms storage and that it also works with the Safe Affidavit form so when I buy rifles I won't need to buy any more gun locks.

What is your opinion on this cabinet? Before you all say just get a safe hear me out. We have a safe downstairs that my dad uses and its full. No guns just collectables. I would like something to store on the 2nd floor in my room. Putting a safe on the 2nd floor of my house wouldn't be smart thing to do for long term storage. So with that said. I will have a total of 4 long guns by the end of this months. I may think about getting a 10 or a 14 gun version but I was curious on the quality. I read a lot of mixed things. Maybe you guys and gals can help me out

It's better than nothing.

Make sure it's bolted to something solid. It'll mostly just keep honest people honest and keep the guns away from the rug rats.

Check Big 5. They would sometimes have a sale on it.

We have no kids in the house. Just my dad and myself. But I would rather have them locked up then just sitting around.

I have the 10gun cabinet and it does the job. Check out walmart I got my 10 gun for the same price.

Yea I can always start off with the 8 gun and since its so light. I can always sell it easily to someone else and upgrade later on when my C&R collection grows.

i have one that is secured/bolted inside an upstairs closet. it'll keep an honest thief honest.

I have one as a secondary storage solution, but store ammo in it. It will keep people from getting your firearms but not a true replacement for a safe if you can get a safe.

Also I believe you can not use one to comply with the safe affidavit... Must have a mechanical or electronic combination plus other requirements which I don't think it covers.

I have a similar cabinet. It has 6 bolts securing it to wall studs so it can't easily be moved, it would take a bit of time and a lot of noise to get inside. It'll do until I get a safe.

I also keep mine in a closet hidden by some jackets, my vacuum, an ironing board, and some laundry stuff. It's not obvious when you open the closet that it's there.

It is DOJ approved so you can use it. I have one and it's not a problem.

Definitely bolt it to something if you can.

At the least, lay it on its back and fill it with ammo, lay the guns on top.

Very heavy, should take 2 guys + a dolly to move it if you put enough ammo init

Yea I did confirm this with the seller who was also an 01 FFL dealer. He said it complies.

There is a difference between meeting what the state calls a safe, and being a f.s.d. These cabinets that are "approved" are firearm safety devices, just like a trigger lock. The doj exempts the within 30 days receipt requirement if the f.s.d. Holds more than one firearm.

No kids. It will keep you looking like a responsible gun owner.
But I would buy a safe later when you fill it up.

It is worth the $. Bolt it in and add other security measures when you can afford it to your entire home.
