Travel with home built AR or AK variant?

Can I travel (fly) to TX with a home built long gun? They are built to California compliance and Are marked with individual SN. I'm meeting a few friends there for a hunting weekend and I'd like to know if it's a option or not?

    Thanks guys.

Why put a serial number on it? Not required. Federal lawful firearm. Just don't go by way of dc or new jerkoff.

So is it legal to fly between CA and TX with a home build no SN?

Most homebuilders I know don't put any SN on it at all.

It's legal per the GCA of 1968. Whether or not the TSA, will harass you, is yet to be determined.

I've read the TSA are not allowed to handle firearms. Inspections must be carried out by LEO. I can take one with a SN or one without. Hoping for someone with experience to give some guidance.
