Ok I am new to this forum and I really haven't dug too deep yet for the answers to my questions so I am just gonna ask them straight out. First here is a little about myself. I am moving from East-NM/ West-TX to Bakersfield, CA. I was in the active duty Army and now I am in the Nasty Guard. My wife put up with all my Army **** and while I was off playing in the sand box she finished her Mech Engineering Degree and now works of Chevron as a Facilities Engineer, hence the reason we are moving to Cali...... Ok now the why I am here, the guns.
I own a lot of NFA/ Class 3 items that I know I cannot bring and I have done some research of what specific weapons are not authorized so I have arranged for those items to be stored in a safe deposit box in NV. I am also aware of high capacity rules and such. But what I am confused about in the registration of my "authorized" guns, more specifically in regards of pistols. I would like to bring my SW99 (chambered in .40 S&W) and would like that to be my open carry weapon. Of course I will NOT be using high-cap mags but what do I need to "register" my pistol to allow me to have it in Cali.
I would love any information, tips, hints, links, etc about gun ownership in Cali.
Just as a note I will only be in Cali for two years so I plan on maintaining my NM residency (which is where all my guns have been purchased and where I maintain a NM CHL) but I will maintain this residency status for tax and vehicle registration purposes, just to put that out there if that changes anything.
Thanks -Out here
