    Pinning a collapsible stock

What is the best way to pin a collapsible stock ?

I am installing a Hammerhead grip on my AR and need to pin the stock to a fixed length.

Probably would help to mention which stock you've got

Can I just run a hex head screw into the tang of the adjustment lever so it can't be depressed ?

Check this page out, it will give you an idea of where to drill and insert the roll pin.

Drill through the lower rib of the stock. Check out this video, language is kinda salty, but the process is sound.

My understanding, and I am not a lawyer, is NO.

I drilled through my Tapco, into the buffer tube, punched in an excess roll pin and ground off any excess metal. I went low, into that "bar" section on the bottom with the notches for the collapsible stock. From what I saw in youtube videos it seemed like the best spot. It was easy.

You can see where I pinned mine if you look hard enough. Just be sure it doesn't interfer with the spring

does the pin need to be epoxied for CA?

OK, I'll bite - why do you "need" to pin the stock?

I thought as long as the rifle is no shorter than 30", it was legal to have a collapsible stock, but not a folding stock. Why does the hammerhead grip make any difference?

Not completely sure but pinning the stock will make it a non collapsible(telescoping)/folding stock, which is needed for a featureless build and the hammerhead grip is not considered a pistol grip, which is also needed for a featureless build.

Here is the PC for it:

                            Penal Code 12276.1. (Now 30515)
                            (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276 (30515), "assault weapon" shall also mean any of the following:
                            (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
                            (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.
                            (B) A thumbhole stock.
                            (C) A folding or telescoping stock.
                            (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
                            (E) A flash suppressor.
                            (F) A forward pistol grip.

So According to Penal Code 12276.1. (a)
A Featureless Rifle can not have any of the following:

                            Pistol grip.
                            Thumbhole stock.
                            Folding or telescoping stock.
                            Grenade launcher or flare launcher.
                            Flash suppressor.
                            Forward pistol grip.

Here is where I got the info from:

                              Thank you for the responses.

I had forgotten those little details and they are important, because I do have a hammerhead grip, just not installed on anything (yet).
