    high cap magazine

I'm thinking of selling a gun not on the current DOJ list, because it's from the early 90s. I have two high cap magazines for it. Can I sell the gun with the 2 magazines to a fellow Kalifornian or do I need to buy a 10 round magazine first?

    Thanks

'fraid not. Transfer of "high"cap magazines is illegal in the state.=(

I will assume the "philD" refers to your initials rather than your education.

You don't have to buy a ten round mag to sell the gun, but you sure can't sell your functioning high-caps to anyone other than a FFL or LEO in California.

First name last initial. If it was my education I'd spell it PhD. Are you from Germany or have an interest in Kant? Kantstudien is an unusual name for a gun forum.
PhilD is my buddy, but definitely has no PhD, because he replied without logging me out first. Definitely no PhD. LOL

Ok, fendt. You are so much smarter than I am. You wish you had my high caps though.

You might need to buy a ten round mag for the gun before you can sell it in California. The buyer will have to do the safe handling demonstration for the dealer and he will need a magazine to do that. Maybe the dealer will let you use one of the original mags just for the demo if you promise not to transfer the mag to the buyer. Some dealers I know won't go for that though. They'll say you need a ten round mag.

You can sell the magazine to the buyer as parts. It must be completely taken apart though! and if the new buyer puts it together as a new mag, he is breaking the law. The parts are useful though.

+1 on selling them disassembled as spare parts, you're absolved of any wrongdoing that way.
