    Need help buying 1911

Good evening Cal-Gunners. I've been looking for a good 1911. I have narrowed it down to two. Les Baer and Dan Wesson. I want a 4" barrel with full grip. I have a budget of 2000.00
Please leave any info or two cents.
    Thank you.

Ps. I have also been intrigued by S&W 1911sc E series.
Again, any info or two cents would be helpful.

If it were my money, it would be a Bear.

Dan Wesson. The closest thing to a Wilson Combat product for about the same price as a Springfield. Once you get used to a high end 1911 the bargain basement models will not be the same. A high quality 1911 will last and last.

California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

I'm leaning towards the Baer custom carry Comanche. Not sure I can shoot 3.5" groups at 50 yards but it's garuanteed.
        Thanx

Just took possession of a Custom Carry 5 inch. Rumor has it, the Comanche is unattainable in the foreseeable future. That came from 1911heaven. Never shot the Dan Wesson. I own several colt 1911's. I felt like selling them all after 250 rounds through the Baer. I can't even describe how happy I am with this gun. It's accuracy is way beyond the average to good shooters ability. I carry a full size 1911 every day, and I swear the Custom Carry seems 1/2 thinner. I feel like a kid with a new favorite toy.

have you considered a Baer 5" barrel? I have a comanche and a premier II with 1 1/2" guarantee and I can definitely tell the difference in accuracy between the 2.

Not many people can hold a 1 1/2 inch group at 50 free hand. I know I can't. But I was holding 2" AT 35 ALL DAY LONG WEAVER. I'm good with that. I'd buy the 5in Custom Carry. If you live in Sac, you can follow me out next trp and shoot mine a couple mags.

I have several friends that have met Ed Brown at the shot show. They describe him as the biggest jerk that ever walked the face of the earth. Same guys speak highly of talking with Les Baer or folks from Wilson Combat, or NightHawk for that matter. Why buy from a jerk. Les Baer is much better priced.

I like Les Baer's, but I don't care for the Commanche due to it not having a true Commander type frame with the relocated spring pocket and vertical impact surface. They have shorter slide travel than a true Commander which is not ideal imho. YMMV.

"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"

"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"

Thank you all. I keep hearing people complain about Brown's ****ty customer service. Would never spend 3k from a jerk.
I now carry a Glock 21sf on my CCW. Come to think about it, I guess a 5" would be a better choice for accuracy and recoil.
May have to go back and check out Baer 5"
Love my Glock but it's not a 1911.

                              "It's not a 1911'

Amen Brother. Full size 1911's are not that bad to carry. I carry OTWB with a Bladetech. The mount real high, so not that bad. I have one of these on order.
