Gun Safe GPS Tracker - Lojack for your safe...

Does anyone know of such an item's existence?

The only thing close that I have found is the Dewalt Mobilelock.

I think this idea presents a potentially awesome product. Basically a gps tracker that mounts inside a safe and plugs into the power outlet. When power is disconnected (I.E. Safe is moved/stolen). It sends a text/phone call to the user or some pre-defined number...or maybe even a switch on the back of the safe that when removed (safe pulled from wall) the alarm is triggered. It would also need to be track-able for up to 48+ hours.

Does anyone know anything like this that exists? I performed a search and the last thread was 3 years old.

    Thanks

I've read about hiding a cell phone in a car, one that has GPS, car gets stolen and you call the phone and find out the location. That would be cheaper than a monitoring service like Lojack, I think.

I guess I dont understand the point of low jacking a safe. At that point I would assume a theif has left your property with your items and ditched the box and keep the contents. I doubt he would keep the GPS device...but who know.

Just bolt the crap out of your safe and then focus on early warning system, dogs alarm, motion sensors etc. before they steal it.

If GPS comes into play you have already lost.

If I were a thieve, I would just bust the safe open on site and take the contents.
Why bother removing and hauling a 700lb+ safe?
Look up Dean's Safe, they have a motion/humidity sensor that alerts you by phone.

Its usually the other way. Cell service is more expensive than lojack. Lojack is mostly passive when not in use.

Garmin makes a cell unit though with service for $50 a year... but you need power in to keep it charged/charging and your safe can't be too thick or the signals can't get in (gps) or out (cell)

but old cells with cameras do make good motion detectors..... good battery backed up motion detectors that can email you over a cell or wifi network when set off (and even send a picture or two of what is happening.... before they're smashed by the thieves)... or, along the same lines, slip an old ipad or android pad next to or under your safe... or even inside it to go off if the safe is opened... if you can run charging power in.

The game can be to try to make that tough to do... like odd sized things sticking out of the safe so it can not by laid flat for prying... the odd sized things could have a lot of silicon carbide chips mixed in them making them tough to cut off... et cetera... heck; the odd sized things could also be big enough to fit in a closet but too big to get through doorways... or fit in their truck right.

That's a lot cheaper than the $25 a month I've seen for Lojack. Tmobile has a program that can be $10 or so a year...

Security in depth like the other guy mentioned. Bolted, dogs, lighting, nosey neighbors, monitored alarm system, family close by on your alarm call list, cameras backed up to the cloud. Heck, put a IP cam on top of your safe for a face shot before he realizes what the hell it is. The list can go on.

Super pain in the a** is your best defense and no one knowing you have a safe to begin with. Sorry neighbors.

As for the GPS the only one I know of is the one previously mentioned. There's some other threads here with discussion such as.
