    Handgun Bring back by Military

    What are the legalities of a reservist getting activated within CONUS, and buying a non roster handgun and bringing it back to CA after activation.

    I'd think it would depend on your orders. If you are activated and PCS to another state, then I'd say you would be OK.

    If it's a TDY, I don't know since you wouldn't be a "resident" of the other state. Just my thoughts, maybe someone has experience.
    "Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

      Correct.

        My soldier will be going to school in Texas for 1 year on school orders. I'm not sure if its a PCS since its a year long.

          Generally speaking TDY orders are for less than 6 mos. Most of the time even shorter.

          Long term training is a more or less a PCS for training. Then follow on orders after training for the permanent duty station.

          In any case the orders will state the duty change.

            I know in CA:

            PCS = good to go.

            TDY = not good to go.

              TDY orders are issued for 180 days or less. Anything over that will be a PCS move. His orders will clearly state the type of move.
