Glock 15 rd mags

If you owned a Glock and it has the standard 15 rd mag can you shoot with it in CA or does it have to be blocked to 10 rds ?

I believe that if you owned the large capacity (15 round) mag in CA prior to 2000, you are good to go.

Other more informed folks are likely to be here soon to correct me if I'm wrong.

My springfield 19-rd mags are perm-blocked to ten.

I have been under the impression that you can HAVE the mags but to USE them is a different story.

Anything above a 10 round magazine has been declared a 'nuisance' by our state legislature. Any law enforcement officer has the authority to confiscate those magazines on sight. The son of a friend of mine was recently sworn in as a deputy in Oceanside (north San Diego County). He told my girlfriend that he was told by an under sheriff to take them when they see them at ranges or on stops.

When I see 10 page threads about the nuances of "is this legal", and then a cop trumps it all by just doing whatever the h*ll he wants....and the cops wonder why they've lost the support of the rest of us?

That law is unconstitutional. I can't wait till it's challenged in court. That personal property that was obtained legally and possesed/used legally can be confiscated is full retard.

Depending on the jurisdiction, dealing with law enforcement can a pain in the butt. I have standard capacity magazines that I legally acquired in the early 1990s, but don't bring them to the range in fear of them getting confiscated. Imagine the energy that can get wasted trying to recover them.

These days I just use them at out-of-state training classes like Costa Ludus.
