    New Savage rifle question

    Hi all,
I mostly lurk around here but I have a question that I am hoping somebody can answer. I just purchased a new Savage Predator Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor online and had it shipped to my local FFL. When it arrived, I took it out of the box and inspected the rifle and started the paperwork. The bolt and the magazine were in separate bags and not in the rifle, I just made sure they were there and didn't pull them out and inspect them (I know, I know). I brought it home yesterday after the ten day wait and when I look at the bolt face it appears to have been fired. There is the typical brass tattoo and red flakes of what may be primer sealer or paint of some kind.
Could this just be from the factory test firing, or did I get a rifle that was previously purchased and then returned. The box and packaging all appeared to be new and unopened and there isn't a mark on the rifle. I just find I strange that the factory wouldn't wipe down the bolt face.
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Ty.

They don't clean it so that you know it was proofed and test fired. Every new gun I have ever had has come from the factory the same way. It also saves them time and money by not having them cleaned before packaging and shipping out.

Excellent. That's kind of what I figured but I wasn't positive.
Thank for putting my mind at ease.

No problem. Seems like every other week someone comes on here freaking out thinking that the employees at the gun store molested their new gun at the range.

That's funny. I even tried the search function but I never seem to have much luck with that.

Yeah- Dont worry about it. Test fire.

I just switched out my savage barrel to a 6.5 creed- still doing load testing, but it shoots!!! Good choice.
