    DROS question

if i buy a gun today online from the main company and have it shipped to an ffl dealer, can i go to the ffl dealer and do the Dros today or do i have to wait once the firearm arrives to the ffl and then do the dros?

Most FFLs want the firearm in their possession prior to starting DROS.

Depends on the FFL, some will start it with the gun inbound others want it in hand and recorded in their bound book before they start DROS.

Best to wait for the gun to make sure you are DROS'ing the correct serial number. If there is an error, I'm not sure how hard that is to correct once the process has started.

If it's a long gun it doesn't need a serial number for a few more days. My FFL says they can do it but prefer not to until they have received it.

Since no make, model or SN is included on the current long gun DROS, what difference does having the "correct SN" make?

What is your problem?? Where did the OP say he was getting a long gun or a handgun? Maybe YOU will get lucky and its a long gun.

My problem is that you are the one talking in absolutes and your absolutes are just plain wrong. I suggest before you give any more bad advise, you learn a bit about the subject at hand. So far, the OP hasn't stated what type of firearm he is talking about so, SNs might or might not come into play. Your post implied that a DROS could not be started until the dealer had the firearm in stock to verify the SN. But, currently, that isn't always true.

NOPE.. once again... READ! I never said or implied that a DROS could not be started until the dealer had the firearm in stock to verify the SN. What I implyed with my statement was that you could, and what I DID SAY was "Best to wait". Clearly you have some issues being so quick to prove EVERYONE WRONG and your apparent desperate need to be the ORACLE OF TRUTH. Are you off your meds?

Sounds like you think that every DROS currently requires a SN. If you knew that current long gun DROS doesn't even have a place to report a SN, you would not have made the blanket statement you did. Or, did I miss something?

BTW, I posted correct info in both threads first. You are the one who must have issues with the right information since you posted bad info after the right info was already there.

                        Is this thread really necessary?
