When did turners start Charging $30 for dros

As the title says went and bought a lower and a 10/22 today and was charged 30 + tax for dros. When did this start? I have not bought anything there in a long time

DROS is still $25. They charge a $5 dealer/handling fee. You should have only been taxed on the $5 as they cannot tax DROS. They are supposed to add the $5 to the price of the firearm transaction and them calculate tax from that total and then add the $25 DROS fee. If they did something other than that I would return and speak to the manager.

You need to look carefully at the receipt.

There is likely a $5 line item for something that does not go to the state, as the $19 + $1 + $5 bits (usually collapsed to $25) do.

looked at the receipt they did itemize it like that just never seen a dealer fee on anything other than ppt's. Just figured it was another way of turners nickle and diming me.

indeed it is. This 5$ surcharge and the two hours it takes for them to get you out with a gun on pickup is why my last purchase 2 weeks ago is going to be my last purchase ever at Turners. They need to get their act together. That, and the fat SOB slamming home the bolt on my new empty chamber ruger mark III.

Been that way for every weapon I purchased from Turner's over the years.

To their credit Big5 charges JUST the $25.

Sometime in the 2000's they started that practice. Total BS that just pisses people off. Why not just add $5 to the price of the firearm so folks aren't surprised at the register.

I'm with you on never shopping there again. I don't usually shop there, I just liked the ruger for my daughter.

cause they want to protect their butts from any potential legal issue.

they had my buddy's dad fill out two dros forms cause he was buying lowers and a complete rifle from two different brands so the manager made him do two forms. which is such a waste of time

Thanks I hadn't shopped there since before the first Obummer rush and don't intend to again.

I know shops that charge an extra $10. Turners has done the $5 for years. That and the extra unneeded paperwork they add are some reasons I rarely buy there anymore.

Interesting to note that Turners makes you pay the DROS separate due to some sort of internal accounting for the state.
