Hmmm, that is interesting. One would think they work just like a regular backpack.
I just picked up a GPS Handgunner backpack and I had about forty pounds in that guy and the back straps worked flawlessly.
Perhaps the teeth on the buckle are bad?Comment

Maybe try to loop the buckles like they do for Harnesses in Cars.

I don't think we're allowed to have buckles with more than 10 teeth in them in CA. And look at the result.-POLICESTATE,

I personally would take it to a seamstress and have something like these added for convenience...

5.11 Tactical makes a similar bag that I've been very happy with along with a couple friends who bought the same bag. More expensive, but better quality imo despite a Calgunner in another thread on here calling 5.11 cheap chinese crap.Your views on any given subject are the sum of the media that you take in, scaled to the weight of the credibility of the source that provides it, seen through a lens of your own values, goals, and achievements.

My straps stay just fine even when loaded with 2 rifles, mags, ammo and a AK pistol. Either way you are complaining about what could be a free fix. Tie a knot or add a rivet. It's a great bag. I'm no fanboy but if you can't fix backpack straps on a 50$ bag you might be the problem.Comment

I'm not trying to be insulting. But did you load the bag and actually put it on and see if it holds? The angle of the pressure being exerted on the straps/buckles can make a difference. And from your video the force that you exerted looked like it was a bit more perpendicular to the buckle than how it would be on your back.
If you haven't tried this, give it a shot...like over a couch or the bed or something so if it cuts lose nothing gets damaged.
Note that I have the exact same bag and as near as I can tell our straps and buckles are identical and mine does not do that.
Suggestions:
Tie a knot as you've already done
Weave the strap back through the buckle as someone already posted a diagram on. This will hopefully create greater tension/friction so that it doesn't slip.
Plastic slides for nylon straps are pretty cheap. You could pickup a couple extra ones to help lock the strap down. Note that REI Carries these if there is one close to you but I don't know if they carry this size.
You could get a second piece of strapping and just weave it into the buckle to help create a tighter fit.
I can also confirm that the 5.11 bag is a better built bag as well...not that you want to have to spend more money and go this route. It's really weird why yours is slipping.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.Last edited by L84CABO; 12-26-2013, 2:24 PM."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."
