    CCW - which gun?

I moved into a relatively cheap studio this past Saturday.

It's a great neighborhood. Some local artists have painted their cultural "X4" on some buildings, and my neighbor was kind enough to offer me some tequila from the bottle he was drinking this morning while I was outside smoking a cigarette. I regretfully declined, as I had to go to work shortly. And the people around me seem to be wealthy - all of the cars have custom rims and murals painted on them and they own so many of them that there is little to no street parking.

So in anticipation of getting my CCW here in Santa Clara county , I think I'll get an IWB holster for one of 3 smallerish guns that I have-

    Glock 17 - 9mm, 17rd capacity - largest frame
Beretta 84 - .380, 13rd capacity - middle sized frame, but still wide with the double stacked mag
Sig P239 - .40, 7rd capacity - small frame, single stack, easiest to conceal

I'm not a fatty, so the glock and even beretta would easily print in a t-shirt

my understanding is that it was near impossible to get CCW around here.

get a beater pistol you know you can shoot, a la glock

That's what I heard, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the people around me have CCWs, I think most people in gangs do.

Interesting, I carry a full size 1911 and I think it's easier then any gun on my list because it's single stack and thinner. You need a high riding IDPA holster though.

I'd wait for the new Glock 42 coming next year, then again...not sure if it will even make the CA list.

g30s was one of my choices to carry but I had a few I rotated through while in a normal state. my other favorite was my 1911 4" barrel in 45 loved them both although they were both kind of heavy they concealed pretty well. I had kydex holsters custom made for both. from a company in seattle Krounds I have gone through a few holsters to get the one I liked the best.

I have carried my G17 quite a bit over the last several years with no issues....but that was a now and again type situation. I have actually purchased a G23, RIA 1911 (sub-compact I guess you could call it) and a Kahr CW 9 in anticipation of getting my CCW after the first of the year. I figure that will give me three different calibers and a couple different types of handguns to chose from on my list.
