    Divide and Conquer

Well today at work I was talking with some of my older coworkers during break. We were on the subject of Obama being the next prez. About how evil the democrats are evil ect. as usual... Then Clarence says if Hillery gets in our guns are gonna be banned. I chime with yeah Obama hates guns too. Then I mention that all semi-autos will be banished. The other coworker Hugo says yeah Semi-autos should be banned. He said to sign him up if they wanna ban them all they are good for is wasting ammo, no challenge, killing, ect. and Clarence said only LEOs should have those AWs. My jaw just dropped after hearing all this crapola I said I cant believe you guys are saying this these (semi-autos) are my favorite guns. These guys are fans of the revolvers and good ol boy guns. I like those too but geeze this divide among gun owners who hunt and those of us who enjoy semi-autos seems to be separated. Clarence is a hunter and Hugo I dunno he had experience with guns. Hugo replied to me saying, "you're a kid" thats why I enjoy the fast shooting autos... (I guess thats what he meant) I didn't bother making a heated debate about but I may bring up the subject again. Asking them what their personal interpretation of the 2nd Amendment is. I mean they were even saying at the beginning of the conversation that this nation was founded on guns. So I don't get it... Just because they don't like a certain class of arms they don't care if its banned... They're the ones who are foolish thinking their guns are safe... (Clarence owns a MAC-10 with 40 mag too BTW)

Anyone else still encouter these people? Is it an age group thing or ignorance?

So far the anti-gun agenda seems to be working on some Americans.

Hell even my own Dad who owns a preban PWA AR15 has said before that these very guns should be banned. (Kinda hypocritical)

I do all the time in the Military. Most of the people are not educated and don't know crap about what a semi auto gun is. They think that it is a MG. I always take time to educate them and by the time we are done, they change their views. All you need is patience and they will see that they were wrong and un educated when it came to guns.

Yeah they were starting to use the word automatic too. I could see they were unfamiliar with these types of guns. Tomorrow I will do my best to educate them assertively... I just didn't want a big debate at the end of the day.

                An update...

Talked to Clarence today while we were working well he don't like semi's, knows criminals can illegally convert them, and just don't think civilians should have the right to own such evil guns. He knows what an AW is... Oh well in about an hour he and I are gonna go check out where the hogs are at in the out skirts.

I basically told him the 2nd Amendment is there to resist tyranny. He didn't argue about that and that criminals don't obey laws anyway. He started to get upset when I kept justifying my arguments. By the way Hugo called in sick today so I dunno what he truly thinks either.

people are pretty quick to jump on the bandwagon that claims safety and security and does not directly effect them.

all things considered, alcohol should be illegal by applying the same rational the gun grabbers do. but would that ever happen? hell the F no, why not; because everyone drinks. the fact that alcohol kills thousands every year both directly and indirectly is moot because its 'the norm'.

people think AW bans are "sensible gun laws" and because the media represents the statistics associated with gun control poorly that means people have to actually make an effort to hear a logical argument presented by both sides. people would rather go to work or watch TV then do that.

California's original AW ban in 1989 was passed with the complicity of a fair amount of "duck hunters" ("I don't need a handgun to hunt") and Thirty Caliber Idiots who thought their Garands and M1As were protected so that was good enough since nobody needed one of those "black plastic rifles".

What these folks didn't realize is that any new gun feature law - no matter how innocuous at first - can morph into something way worse. (It's easier to pass detailed amending legislation to an existing set of laws than, in contrast, it is to pass a whole new law.)

Just look how Kathy Lynch's (CAFR/NSSF/CRPA lobbyist) roll-over support of Alison's SB15 "safe handgun" Roster turned from a simple drop test into all sorts of safeties and microstamping.

And look how some of those Thirty Caliber Idiots in LA got in trouble when they had FHs on their M1As.

I ran into the same thing. I showed some co-workers, my new AR. A long time hunter and knowledgeable gun guy says "Thats an AW"! My jaw almost hit the floor. I said no its a rifle. He came back with "All semi's can be an AW". I have a hard time trying to refrain from adding some sarcasm. I stated so my 870 with 8 rounds of double 00 isn't capable of assaulting people, Does that make it a AW? Took some talking and comparing other rifles for his eyes to open. Now half my co-workers want to go shooting.
