Can I use paint thinner on an AR?

I accidentally bumped the muzzle of my AR on my doorway, and now there is a bit of white paint on the flash hider.

Can I use paint thinner or nail polish remover to get the white paint mark off? Or will that strip the anodized black as well? My other option is just to buy a new flash hider.

You should be fine. Just use enough to wipe off the paint, then clean it off.

Anodize is a changed state OF the aluminum, it is not a paint.
Thus paint thinner will have no adverse impact on the finish of the aluminum portions of your AR.
However the plastic portions may discolor so apply carefully.

I wouldn't buy a brand new flash hider just because you bumped it against a wall and got paint on it. Just spray some MPro7 or some other gun cleaner on it and brush it off.

A brass brush should take that paint transfer right off.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!
