    Ammo interchangeability chart/info

    So this morning I woke up and started thinking about ammo interchangeability. For example;

    if your rifle is chambered for 5.56 you can also fire 223 and with the right BCG conversion 22lr.

    A .45/70 chamber will only shoot the .45/70, a .45/90 will shoot both, a .45/110 will shoot all 3, and a .45/120 will shoot all 4.

    Same exact thing applies to the .50/70, .50/90, .50/110 and .50/140 BP cartridges.

    Granted the last 2 are more obscure references, but hopefully the idea is understood.

    My question is this, does anyone have such a chart/info that shows what could work with what ammo in order to utilize the most for that particular firearm? Does anyone have that information to share with our forum either in a pictorial chart or text form for both handgun and rifle? I would greatly appreciate the help anyone can lend.

      True, that thread does has some info. However, not really what i'm looking for. I will continue to look around and hopefully compile the information. Thank you though.

        I have seen a chart somewhere but it has been a long time.
        A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

          Not every firearm chambered in any particular cartridge can use substitute cartridges safely. That is why that thread is broken down into firearms.

            SAAMI has a "do not use" list which lists cartridges NOT to be used by caliber

              At the range I picked up a 9mm Parabellum that had obviously been fired in a 40 S&W chamber. Surprisingly the brass held but it sure had a bulge at the mouth.

                I saw a video of a .223 getting shot out of a glock.

                First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.
