Jan 1st question about required registration....

So coming Jan 1, 2014 are prices of firearms going to drop a little due to the required registration of long guns? Would that cost extra on top of the firearm or will that be included with the DROs??

Forgive me if this is a dupe and my google-fu is not strong due to being at work....

I don't see how prices would drop due to registration, unless shops are thinking people will be skidding to buy, and decide to offer deals to bring people in.

Don't expect the prices to come down - you won't catch up. Just get what you need now. If after Jan 1st you decide to get something else then go for it.

          Hell no.

Look at handguns: compared to out of state prices, are they less? NOPE! And registration is required with them when you buy one, so why would they lower it for rifles but not handguns?

They're just gonna charge more money, dude.

DROS pricing isn't changing. Most first time buyers already think long guns are registered, so won't be changing their purchases. Most gun people already have a collection of registered firearms, so it won't be likely to change their future purchases.

The only guns I see dropping slightly in price are private party C&R's, since now you can't just exchange cash and pick it up, which was giving a bump to demand for them until Jan 1.

IDK...a few of the gun stores (OC and SGV areas) I've been to this week...employees were whining about looking for a new job! Maybe layoffs, due to a slow down, is being anticipated after 01/01/14. If there is a slow down, it is likely the shops will lower their prices.

I also did a look back at some Turners ads for ARs and the prices increased as we got closer to year end. I imagine that they're capitalizing now in advance of the pending rule change and will drop their prices after 01/01/14, after the big pre-registration requirement rush!

Lower prices? Not going to happen, registration or not , we're going to keep buying guns, registration doesn't stop us from buying handguns, why would this be any different.

I agree we are still going to buy. It's the way we are.

Doesn't matter what the costs become, because it seems that no one on this site will be buying any more long guns due to the registration process. But they seem to be ok with buying pistols that have to be registered. Sounds hypocritical to me, but there you have it. No one will be buying any more rifles. And if you believe that, you'll also believe that unicorns fart rainbows.

Ya I don't understand. Everyone has registered handguns but why not rifles? Same ****.....

In war, rifles are considered as your primary weapon and handguns as secondary. So when the impending confiscation (ask any sensationalist/fear mongerer) starts they will be coming for rifles.

Of real worry, if any of said rifles are later banned by future legislation they will have a list of these rifles, albeit only the registered ones, which will include any rifle PPT'd after Jan 1 as well. This is what is happening in NY right now.
