    Sacramento Calgunners?

    Hey guys,

I just moved up to Sacramento today and wow, so many highways just to get to the other side of town. I was just curious if any of you Sacramento Calgunners can give me the 411 on which stores are AR friendly and which gun ranges are pretty good. Also, where's the nearest Pho place near Rancho Cordova? Thanks again!

Welcome to the Sacto area! I'm sure you'll like it up here, if we can ever get rid of the smoke, we'll no longer look like LA does! We're an OLL friendly FFL, we're up the hill in Ione, close to Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, which is a great range! If you are in Rancho Cordova, you're close to the Rancho Cordova Shooting Center, which is also OLL friendly. There are alot of areas withing driving distance that you can shoot on BLM land and such.. If you are into competition, there are IDPA shoots at Sac Valley, and also IDPA type comps at the El Dorado Rod and Gun club..

      Where's Sacramento?!

      Public Ranges in this area:

      Cordova Shooting Center
      Sac Valley Shooting Center
      The Gun Room (Elk Grove)

As mentioned above JKsupplyco is the only AR friendly store in the area.

Otherwise that.. for AR's there are a few transfer dealers with limited hours.

Welcome to Sacto. I bought my two OLL lowers and lpk from Sonoma firearms, (which is really in Antelope),www.SONOMAFIREARMS.COM, very good experience. I like Sac Valley shooting, but if you don't mind the drive I do occasionally like Spenceville for when I have a large group.

Sac was an interesting place.. I lived there for about 2 years for school then moved to Folsom for a year and moved back to the bay area.

There were a few stores in the local area but they were all high priced some of them gone now. Theres also wild sports in orangevale, which also has very nice fishing stuff.

jksupplyco I never been to but very willing and helpful on the fourms.

                Welcome up to the area!
I live in north county (Antelope), but here is my take..
I like Sportsman's Warehouse in Rocklin for guns (Take I-80 east to hwy 65, you will see it on the right in about 2-3 miles) It's a great place with EXTREMELY friendly sales staff. One guy will turn himself inside out for you.
Another GREAT place is Elkhorn Bait & Tackle. It's a mom & pop operation, they also have VERY friendly staff. (If you want directions PM me)
                As far as shooting,
I like "The-Range" (http://www.the-range.biz) in Grass Valley, the owner was my firearms instructor in the police academy. It's a long drive, but worth it for good prices & helpful staff. They have a once a year fathers day sale (how I got my G19) that has some great prices on used rental guns.
"The Gun Room" in Elk Grove is a good spot, bit pricy though.
There is also "Cordova Shooting Center" in Rancho Cordova. It's at the old Mather AFB military shooting range. I have never been there but I hear it's a good outdoor range.
If you want something off the beaten path, cal-gunners can show you a place outside of Grizzy Flat in the El Dorado National Forest.

PM me if you want any more info.. I will be glad to help!

I ate pho in Davis a few times when my friend was still going to school there, you know those minty leaves? there was a caterpillar in ours once haha.

Other than that, theres one pho restaurant on Howe ave, it was awesome.

+1 on JK Supply. DROS'd a lower there this weekend. The drive out to Ione is nice and sure beats driving 35-40 mins across Sacramento (traffic signal delays, traffic backups, plus dipsh*t drivers = ).

Pho? someone say pho? All the good stuff is on Stockton blvd. A bit of a drive, but all the good stuff is there. Everyone's pretty much nailed the gun store question.

+10000000 on JKSupplyco for your OLL and transfer needs.

As for AR/OLL friendly gun shops in Sac, there really aren't any.

Wild Sports in Orangevale usually has good deals on some popular ammo calibers (check the Wednesday Sacramento Bee)

River City Gun Exchange is another great shop to check out in South Sac with lots of new and used firearms. They usually have an ad on Thursday in the Sport Section of the Sacramento Bee.

I'm originally from Fresno but moved up to the Sacramento region in order to find more job opportunities. If any of you are Electrical Engineers in Sac do give me a PM, I could use a few good references. In Fresno, there wasn't much to do other than the indoor shooting range and the Lemoore Sports Range. I was hoping to do some hunting and recreational shooting while I'm staying here but, hopefully everything goes well with the job hunting.

+ 1,000 on JK Supply. Just picked up my rifle there, very nice folks and know their stuff.
