Reactive targets for outdoor gun range??

I am going to rent a private range at Burro Canyon for about 10 people from work. All of my targets are STEEL and Burro Canyon does not allow steel or any other non-organic target. I picked up a few of the ORANGE self sealing targets. I am going to bring some target stands with paper, but shooting at paper at 30 yards with a pistol can get boring if you are not actually seeing where you hit on paper or even if you hit paper. There will be a few new shooters so I would like to be able to set up some stuff that they can actually see when they hit.
Any ideas about building something simple??? Maybe something to hold that will hold clays???

      Wow, that sucks.

So organic is okay? Like Potatoes, Eggs, etc. (cheap, organic, and very reactive)

If you pick up a piece of Lath or some other sort of chicken wire and a bag of clothespins from the .99 cent store, you can clip a bunch of clays to the wire mesh. You just need some sort of stand to hold the wire mesh up, and you can very easily clip like 5 rows of 5 or 5 rows of 10 clays onto it.

Here's a sheet of wire mesh at Home Depot.

They won't let you shoot tin cans?

Potatoes are cheap and fun to shoot. Go to the 99 Cents Only Store and stock up on whatever cheap produce you can find. Tortillas, cookies and other food works well too!

You know what we do? Go buy a box of white flier targets, some masking tape, and that black tar paper that they use to put behind targets. You post the tar paper, then tape the clays to the tar paper, and have your friends shoot at them. They can see it break, they can see it chip, and its fun to shoot at. The tar paper will hold tape, but it wont tear when you go to put more clays on

I shoot at Birchwood Casey Shoot-N-C targets. They make self adhesive ones and they work awesome

If your so inclined, you could make a Square Frame of wood 4x4,8x8, and put long extension legs to prop it up. next, get a 1 inch hole bore drill, drill just deep enough to hold a row of eggs/potatoes. Then get bailing wire, or just twine and hang a couple or Five of your 1/2 gal milk cartons filled with Water and red dye. Thats fun!!!Oh, Ido love empty tin cans! Remember to bring your trash Bags after your done.

When my kids were little we used balloons stapled to a 2x2 shoved in the ground vertically. They loved popping one after another. cheap reactive targets.

Can you use cans or jugs filled with water? Those can be pretty nice too. Los Altos has a "tin can range" in which they allow customers to bring tin cans and other plastic water containers (up to 1 gallon) to fill with water and shoot.
