polymer/brass hybrid found at range. and also squib

found a couple of these at the range, last I heard of poly cases is that they were only being made in .380 and were incredibly over-priced.

also in the pic is a squib I caught that could have potentially ruined an almost 2K dollar pistol.

cases read "PCA 223 REM 03". they seem to be **** quality, noticeable plastic injection mold marks.

That squib came out of your pistol? I hate squibs more than anything else when it comes to guns since it's totally out of our control

BTW, lucky with that squib, saved a 2k gun, and maybe a hand or an eye...priceless!

yup, worse yet it was a round out of my defensive box, that round has been in my mag if not my chamber before. uggh, walking around with a squid chembered, makes me shudder.

While it is now made differently "PCA" has been around for a while, and what you found is the older gray stuff from NATEC that was not as reliable and had a problem with the neck and bottom casing being ripped off/apart.

Personally I would never waste my money on the stuff.

                  New version: http://www.pcpammo.com/

by David Crane david@defensereview.com DefenseReview recently published an article by Bob Taubert on high-tech small arms ammo titled Ammunition Improvements for 21st Century Mil/LE Urban Operations, in which ammunition made by NATEC, Inc. was discussed. Well, one of our readers who read that piece, a Mr. Tom Kampert, sent us an email message that included a message and photos regarding NATEC polymer-cased PCA-Spectrum ammo (5.56x45mm/.223 Rem.) he tested that he says suffered "cracked and separated case necks". When we last spoke with Mr. Kampert, he still had not yet received a response (to the email message below) from NATEC, Inc. We're reprinting a slightly edited (for privacy) version of this email message below, with Mr. Kampert's permission: "From: Tom Kampert Date: Dec 8, 2005 6:29 AM Subject: Photos of NATEC cracked and separated cases To: David Crane David, I've attached the photos of the cracked and separated case necks that we spoke of.
