    Corrosive ammo damage?

Need some help. Just took apart my AR which has seen less than 400 rounds thru it and been cleaned after each use except the last one. I shot it and another AR I have with my daughter about 2 months ago. I used the same reload ammo on both. Maybe 150 rounds each. I shot a little again yesterday and am cleaning now. On my new AR I am seeing what appears to be corrosion damage to the face of the bolt just in front of the gas rings. This AR is a colt I recently bought. The other gun does not appear to have any damage. Is this a sign of corrosive ammo? Dont know what to think. Thanks for any help, and if it is corrosive ammo damage, what is the best cleaning process to prevent any more damge? I live in the desert and no humidity problems here.

Is it corrosion or carbon build up?

If it's boxer primed American reloads it's highly unlikely to be corrosive.

You'll usually fond corrosive primers in old milsurp berdan primed ammo or "allegedly" in some new Wolf/Tula commercial ammo.

Think that I will vote for carbon build up. Corrosive reloads?

I am sorry guys, my eyes are not as good as they used to be. I scraped it earlier and nothing, but sitting with some break free on it, and scraping again, turns out it is carbon after all. Thanks for all your help, I feel really stupid.

Corrosive ammo will cause rust. It will be obvious.

I am shooting mixed reload. Good point about the rust being obvious.
