Remington model 11 in jail.

So I went to Faith Armory in Temecula on Black Friday to pick up some ammo and saw a Remington model 11 for $200. Naturally I had to buy it. Does anyone have one or have anything positive or negative to say about them? It seems like it is very well built and for 200, well 246 after taxes and dros it seemed like a really good deal for a semi auto shotgun.

I have one. It's heavy. The forearm is split, so I no longer shoot it. But I love it. I love the looks, the heritage, and the bell like ringing sound it makes when it cycles.

Nice, thanks for the info on finding a manual. I have been looking at videos on youtube. It seems fairly easy to work on as far as changing the setup for heavy or light loads. A friend of mine has one that looks very similar but it is made by Colt. Can't wait to pick it up and fire it.

Isn't a Remington 11 just a Browning A5?

Remington produced them and paid a royalty to Browning, at least according to Browning's history.

I have a model 11 that my grandfather bought in 1920 for sage grouse hunting when he lived in Rock Springs WY.
It has been hunted hard for three generations now, looks pretty rough, but it still works great.
You would not believe the abuse I have put that gun through over the decades I have had it and it doesn't bother it a bit.
What you basically have is a U.S. made Browning Auto 5 that you bought at a fraction of the price of a A-5.
As Wang Lung said they are heavy, but that is because milled from solid steel, no alloys and no stamped steel parts which make them a very long lasting, very dependable shotgun.

As a general rule most info for a A-5 also applies to a model 11.

Do not use standard screwdrivers on it, they will mess up the slots.
Get something like this.

Have fun with it. With only a minimum amount of care, you have a shotgun that your great grand kids will still be shooting.
I believe the 11 and the A-5 are the most dependable semi-auto shotgun ever made.

By the way I don't believe Colt made a version of a A-5.

It is not refinished, but all the parts aren't original. the receiver and rear stock are original. The original forend wood is nice but the tube was pretty buggered up so I bought a 5 shot conversion from numrich and thats why the forend wood is different from the butt.

I bought the 18" barrel off of gunbroker for $10. It doesn't have a bead and has some rust I need to clean up. The original barrel is in good shape.

also, be sure to check your fiber bolt buffer to make sure it's still in tact.
