    Hunters Saftey Courses

Who has hunters safety courses in the Bay Area and when are they offered? I need to get my hunting lic. in time for Dove season. Is there a site that lists all the ranges that offer courses and when they offer them?

check cal dept of fish and game website
you can get a license if you have one issued from any previous year in ca. or an out-of -state one. the classes are always a good idea if you have time anyway-- i'll be going again when my son gets older. as gun owners and hunters there is nothing more important than safety. doves are fun to hunt because they are so fast and erratic flyers ;but they have to be about the nastiest bird i've ever tasted.

Internet home study and Livermore Rod and Gun

That way only 1/2 of your Saturday is taken up by the class.

Practice tests and final exam are here:

Official 2026 California Hunter Safety Course, required for your hunting license. Complete online in 3 easy steps. CDFW Approved. Start yours today!

Then sign up for the classroom here:

Livermore-Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club offers a variety of shooting sports. With some of the best facilities in N.Cal it's a safe and friendly place to shoot.

Costs more doing it this way, but, the time savings to me made it worth it.

I'm about to do it at Reed's in Santa Clara. They have a class July 19th, but I know there's a limit to the class size. You might want to give them a ring and see if they have space and what you need to do.

I'm doing a partial on-line component, and then doing the 3 hours hands-on in a class run by them.

I would like to see a re-test for some older hunters also. Like after you took it 20+ years ago.

Chabot Gun Club has them as well. It's a long one day course that should yield a certificate for you to get your hunting license after you pass the exam at the end of the course.
