There is literally HATE towards Cali gun owners (Why?)

As I'm sure most of you have come across, there is this strange hatred towards gun owners in California from gun owners in other states.

It's not just mockery about our gun laws, I've found it goes way beyond that. On other forums people will sometimes bash Californians as if we are all liberal weed farmers that are part of the problem. Gun companies such as Knight's Armament, Armalite, Colt, and Arsenal have ignored us in the past for many years. Many online gun parts stores will not sell to Californians and have sometimes been cited by people as condescending towards them.

Other states seem to ignore the fact that Cali is a battleground state that has HUGE influence over what happens in the rest of the country. Other states often follow in our footsteps so to speak. So why would some gun stores, people, and companies hold this view towards Californians? Jealous of our lifestyle? (Because as far as entertainment, weather, diversity of landscape, and women, California takes the cake )

So why the deep seated contempt toward Californians? And no, I am not whining; just thought this would be an interesting discussion.

That hate is because many of the gun owners elsewhere feel that the gun control situation in California has been brought on us by our own inaction and disorganization and plain old cheapskate attitudes.

California has arguably the most restrictive gun laws in the nation and while there are over 7 million gun owners in the state we have less than 500,00 NRA members. To gun activist owners in other states, most of whom are members of the NRA and state organizations, that is inexcusable. I agree.

Because they blame us for all the BS laws nation wide. Like you said, California has a huge influence on the rest of the country. They realize that when California politicians create these laws, it will eventually effect them. And since we (California voters) are the ones who put these politicians in power, its our fault.

Because they think WE are responsible for our laws (even though technically we are). Every time I hear or read someone hate on CA gun laws, its always followed by "Well you idiots voted them in" or "You idiots made your bed now lay in it"...They fail to realize that we live in a socially progressive LIBERAL immigrant state.

Also, most people dont believe that we cant own certain types of guns or large caps. I got into an argument in regards to SB 374 with someone in the southern states and he told me I was full of **** and that no such law could do what I am saying...

I think there is the thought that when some CA natives move to free states, they tend to influence the politics in that area negatively. Fact/fiction, but it is arguable. I'm sure there are other reasons, but these are a couple that I have heard from relatives out of state.

The hatred is not just from and to gun owners...it's more akin to from and to everyone.

The "following in our footsteps, so to speak", has resulted in a nauseating rise in nanny-state-ism in Oregon, Washington, and Colorado, just to mention a few states. This affects not only weapons laws, but mostly everything.

Jealously has little to do with it.

If you need entertainment, you can either be entertained, or entertain yourself.

Weather is an advantage in California, generally...as is diversity of landscape.

As to wimmen...you've obviously never spent much time in Texas or Oklahoma or northern Europe.

In the end, weather and landscape tend not outweigh taxes, California's poverty rate, the nanny attitude of the legislature, schools, and the FSA.

Most reasonable people would prefer to do for themselves, v. having the government to it for them and pay more. The thought of a hands-off government is what started the US in the first place.
