    Limit on 80% Lowers

Sorry if this is a dupe, I searched google and the forums, that might mean something but I figured I'd ask.

I was on a facebook group, and there are two reputable FFL's arguing about the legalities of 80% lower builds. I will not name those who were involved just wanted some more input. One of the FFL's whom I've done business with seems very knowledge able and the other is a pretty big name. One of the guys said that you are only able to make 3 ar type lowers from 80%'ers, he is claiming that he got this from BATFE but cannot site any specific examples or references. The other guy is stating that you are in fact able to make as many rifles as you want and there is no limit. I was just curious if there was any type of limit as to how many 80%'ers you are able to produce for your personal collection.

I read somewhere that 10 per year is the limit for home build of any kind. Just something I read somewhere years ago when I first learned about home built firearms. I could very well be wrong.

How the hell do they know "When you built them"?

What if you mill 10 on December 31st? can you just make 10 more on January 1st?

There's no limit. After 50 (if I recall the number correctly) there may be questions on paying tax on thwm. However, that shouldn't be an issue, since you're building them for personal use, not as a manufacturer (for which you'd need a license anyway). 3 per year? Ridiculous.

Ok, I thought what he was saying sounded kind of like FUD, but he has been pretty spot on up until now. But then I couldn't find anything backing his claim anywhere. He was also saying that the the rifles you build could not be identical and they all had to be different.

And he stated that you could only have 3, not even 3 per year.

That's what I originally thought. Also why I didn't much care if there was a limit. Prove when I built any of them...
