how is it that some members on here are referred to as "AK gods" or "AK masters" "professors" or the "AK midwife" when on AK-centric forums they are unknowns or even sheepish about their self-aggrandizement?

i would think that if they truly were so great, they'd be known on websites that cater specifically to their craft, right?

The AK team was born at my build parties. Some of us just don't frequent AK specific forums.

I've seen a couple of names come up on the AK Files site that I know from Calguns. Also, I've never seen names of some well-known non-California based builders/gurus I'm familiar with from the AK Files come up on Calguns. In addition to CSACANNONEER'S observation, another issue may well be the fact that Calguns is not focused primarily on AKs and the AK sites are not focused primarily on California. The night Brown vetoed some of the recent gun-grabbing statutes this forum was very active with discussions regarding those bills, but it was almost ignored at the Files because that is a more nationally-oriented forum. Of course, it could also be that I'm not paying attention because I don't focus on AK issues when I'm here and focus on almost nothing else gunwise when I'm over at the AK Forums. Regardless, I don't think you can really read anything into any particular AK builder/guru/God's notoriety or lack thereof on a forum they do not frequent.

It's very rare that I see a member's real name used here or on any other forum. It could be that their username may not be available elsewhere and they simply go by something else there.
