Can a ww2 machine gun that was granfathered, legally be registered and sold?

I wonder if it was registered as a machine gun or it's just a demilled kit. If it wasn't registered, I would delete this thread. Can't see a semi auto being worth 20k -
Per Federal laws/regulations...
In order to be "grandfathered" the MG needed to be registered before the end of the amnesty period.
The amnesty period to register a MG ended on 12-01-1968.
The only action that can legally be done now, is to demil/destroy it per BATFE specification or contact a lawyer in order to surrender it to LE without incurring any felony charges.
Per CA laws/regulations...
There is no such thing as a "grandfathered" MG.
Starting in 1971, in order to legally own/possess a MG the owner needed a CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons permit for a MG.
Without a CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons permit for a MG, the "unregistered" MG is contraband and subject to confiscation with the possessor of the MG subject to multiple state felony charges.

You might advise whoever has it to disassemble it completely and only turn in or destroy the receiver; spare parts sets for smg's/mg's are quite valuable depending upon model and legal to sell.
