    guns and tv shows

Ok i probably watch to much tv shows. lately I've noticed. tv shows always saids the brand and type of caliber of the firearm (Hawaii five O, arrow, person of interest and so on).
I've really never noticed it before but all of sudden its happening a lot.
the last episode of arrow where group of gangs stole auto m4 or a scar with a grenade launcher.
i wonder why Hollywood is doing that.
i mean i have my opinions and thoughts.
    Im curious on ur thoughts

    Paid advertising?
Good for economy, see something cool go buy it. Ex. Microtech halo, as soon as it was on Fox's 24 everyone and their mama wanted one. Then a lot of people found they couldn't be carried, and lost interest.
There's so much out there that terms like 357, glock, 44 mag, mac 10 simply an extra detail to relate to?
The possibilities are endless, maybe inherit human violence and tools associated with it?
    Shows like CSI?
It's just a big ? Honestly never noticed it, just reasons I could associate with it

Hank showed off his .40 cal Glock (naming it) in an early episode of Breaking Bad.

I've noticed a lot of product placement in tv shows over the past couple of years. Mostly cars and soft drinks.

Glock is the most recongizable name brand in handguns...everyone knows Glocks...

Even people with little firearms knowledge know Glock...even though they might say it uses clips and is capable of firng full auto at 4826rounds per milisecond, and is made up of plastic parts that can be walked thru metal detectors...

But you have to hold it sideways to get that function.

I'm sure most people lost interest once they saw the price tag. That is one seriously overpriced knife.

The mini gun was retrieved from a weapons cache in the desert in Terminator 2. There wasn't one in the gun store in the first movie.

Predator. Hand held mini-gun firing for a full minute on a back pack full of ammo, cutting down an acre of jungle. That back pack must have held about 500lbs of ammo.

Because Hollywood thinks they are cool when they say the name of the gun in their shows.

I think that it's an effort by the writers to sound like they know what they're talking about.

It could also be so that the armorers provide the same gun that the writer was thinking about, and thus not contradict the script.
