Glock .40cal converted to 9mm

Has anyone done this? Hows it like? Do you notice anything different wrong funny or strange? Im thinking about getting a Glock 22 and then purchasing a Glock 17 Barrel. Heard it could be done with ease. Yay Nay do it dont do it?

As long as you are just shooting 9mm for ****s and giggles, no problem. In that case, if you have any reliability issues, who cares...

Don't do it for self defense. That would just be stupid.

Well yea I normally carry .40 but its a lil cheaper to shoot 9mm I think.

have a Glock 23 with a Lone Wolf conversion barrel & 9mm magazines

left everything else stock without issue and nearly 1000 rounds down range.

keeps range time more cost effective. still shoot the .40 ammo of my HD choice on occasion to keep familiar with recoil.

Same ^ I have a glock23 with a loan wolf 9mm barrel and 9mm glock mags. Works great! Have not had any problems at all and I shoot a lot of steel cased ammo.

I have a G22 with a stormlake 9mm barrel conversion. No issues and I lost count how many rounds I've sent down the pipe on each barrel. Still runs pretty well. Now that I have a g17, I just use my g22 for HD and take it out every other month to shoot it.

Glocks are so cheap that you might as well just buy the additional gun. The conversion would work, and 9mm and .40 S&W are close enough in size, but the extractor won't be an exact fit, and it could introduce a small amount of decreased reliability.

You can't drop a OEM G17 barrel into a G22 because the 40S&W is .022" larger in diameter. You get a conversion barrel and you will need to run 9mm mags. Sometimes you have to replace both the ejector and extractor to make them run %100, depends on which brand and what ammo you run. Most agencies will not approve conversions for CCW.

I have a Glock 35 and 23 with Lone Wolf 9mm barrels and 9mm mags. No problem at all and have never had a malfunction, even shooting it in defense classes.

The .40 mags do work with 9mm, but it's better to get the 9mm mags for complete reliability.

Adding to what has already been said, I am using a Glock 35 lone wolf 9mm conversion barrel in my glock 22. It sticks out, but works great. I did have to stone a corner of the conversion barrel so that it would lock into the slide properly, but it was a minor issue that probably would have fixed itself after breaking in.

I tried to put the glock 35 conversion barrel into a glock 27, but it did not work.

Personally, I carry a .45 concealed when OD, but I have no issues with a 9, provided you are using quality JHP's. The terminal ballistics with the quality rounds are pretty good to excellent anymore.
I have also soured on the 40 as a personal defense round. It's fine shooting 3 gun, but I will stick with the .45 and 9mm. My bext HG purchase will likely be in 9...

I think he is implying that the conversion to 9mm introduces a possible reliability problem, but not the act of using 9mm in general.

You may run into ejection issues going with a factory G17 barrel using the G22 trigger housing. The Lonewolf 40 to 9 conversion barrel has the bore offset to the side a bit. The 9mm ejector pin has a slight angle compared to the .40.

I run my G22 with the Lonewolf conversion and its fine.

I've converted my G27 to 9mm with LW barrel and 9mm extractor. No problems at all. Shoots just as good as my G26.
