It's on my wish list too.

Something about good old wood and steel....

Another favorite is the M1 Garand.

Talked to a guy shooting one yesterday at the range. Sure was pretty.

M1 and M1A...both excellent choices. Get those, a Springfield 1903, a 1911, an AR, and a Beretta 92. Basic infantry set for the last century.
          Sorry, not sorry.

I've had one for over 10 years. That is my go to rifle. It eats anything I put through it. I want another one in the scout length.

Dreamed about, traded, sold, traded, traded, sold, and then the dream came true! When and or if you do purchase an M1A, I guarantee you won't be disappointed OP!

I really enjoy mine. The nice thing is no bullet button and 20 round mags.

Was looking at an m1a scout today at my local gun store. Really nice. Considering whether or not to break the bank for this one. Decisions desicions....sigh

I am glad I bought my M1A Loaded SS 22'' last year pre-panic. The serial # matches my b-day so this one is a keeper.

I would love to an M1A Scout down the road, but that's wishful thinking at today's prices.

I'm probably going to be the only person to say this, but I had a Springfield M1A, then sold it along with a bunch of nice Checkmate mag rebuild kits a few years back. Since then, I've never looked back. It was nice, but for some reason I didn't care for it. It was accurate, yes, but I felt it was overrated for the money. I had a Saiga 308 that I bought for about one fourth the price. Considering the money, in my view, the M1A wasn't anywhere near being four times the better gun, or four times as accurate (Still good though).
I know people love their M1A's, but for some reason or another, I never really liked the thing. I know you don't need to put a mag release lock on it, but that never really mattered to me either. If you really like it though, I would say go ahead and buy one.
