WTH is wrong with this new barrel?

I just got a new barrel and this was what I found when I unwrapped it. WTH?

where'd it come from? Blackthorne/vulcan/hesse? Or a random gun show find?

As for what's wrong, appears to be rusted.

Looks like rust pitting, I'd ask for a return label.

Could be the angle of the photo, but I do believe the bore is off center.

Looks like it was test fired. Put some solvent on a q-tip and I bet it wipes right off. Was it marketed as HP tested?

              OK, I'm an idiot.

I ordered a chrome BCG and a stainless barrel from an online retailer. The chrome BCG came in with rust spots on it and I had to take it all off with steel wool. So I already wasn't happy with the vendor.

Then I unwrapped the barrel and it looked like they tried to machine the throat with a rusty ice pick. I also noticed a couple healthy divots on the exterior and a couple spots of rust on the outside of the barrel extension. So I expected the worst.

Some of you recommended trying to wipe the throat to see if it was just something on the surface. You were right. It was just black and rusty looking grease. The strange thing is it was ONLY right at the throat radius. There was none in the barrel and none around the lugs. Strange.

Anyway, false alarm. I'm glad it was something simple and sorry to bother you all.

              Cheers.
