School me on pistol mag pouches

I'm getting serious about getting gear. What kind of magazine pouches do you swear by? Are pouches specific to a certain kind of gun like holsters are or can I get one brand of pouch and use them with all my guns?

Thanks in advance and sorry about all the questions.

HSGI TACO pouches will hold any pistol mag.

They'll also hold flashlights, multi-tools and more.

I have had great luck with Garrett Industries and Comp tac for my mag pouches. Obviously you have to buy separate ones for each mag type but they have treated me well. Nice thing about comp tac is the quick ( 2 days last time) turn around.

The majority of pouches are specific to a gun, like holsters. There are exceptions of course. By and large, any quality holster maker, makes a decent pouch.

Do you want leather or kydex?

Milt sparks makes quality leather products..as do many others.

Bladetech makes a nice kydex carrier. The "belt loop" is adjustable to fit a wide width of belts and you can adjust the cant to your preference. I prefer two single pouches as opposed to a double for better positioning.

Blade-Tech's wide variety of Mag Pouches cover top models from Glock, Smith and Wesson, CZ, H&K, Ruger, and more. Made in the USA with a lifetime warranty.

I prefer kydex. I don't want to worry about a pouch or holster deforming over time.

Blade Tech, Comp Tac, Double Alpha, CR Speed, and Safariland all make quality stuff.
Really depends on application. As a general statement, lot of guys use Blade Tech.

The cheap Uncle Mike's Kydex work well for single stack mags.

It depends on the gun game.

IDPA you want to hold 3 mags.

                      Action pistol/IPSC, you want 5-6-7......

So.... IDPA, a kydex double, and single work well.

Action pistol, 2-3 doubles and or 2+ singles work well.

The doubles and singles go well together for going around your hip, since a double is too wide for the point right around the hip bone if you're skinny.

If you're a chunk.... well, all doubles would probably be fine.

Also, kydex is usually pretty universal- just depends if you shoot single stack or double stack mags.

IDPA two mags on the belt one in your pocket.

Check the forums on brianenos.com. I found mention of the DAA Racer pouch which you can get inserts to fit big double stacks, standard 9mm double stacks, and 1911 single stacks.

Wilderness has I think the best universal mags on the market. We use them for class and I have on 2 mags and my G19 in their holster right now... great gear and I think their belt is phenomenal also. And no I have no affiliation.
