    Good FFL for Interstate Transfer

Hey there, just wondering which FFL you folks are using when buying USED firearms from private sellers in other states (like from GunBroker).

Another related question is the tax. From reading the various threads, some FFL charge tax regardless of whether its a private sale or FFL transfer, while others don't. However, there was no consensus if this tax is a sales tax or a use tax.

Based on peoples positive experiences, I was considering Pacific Coast Firearms. However, I couldn't find any info on their sales tax policies.

If you folks have any FFL recommendations in the LA/OC region, please let me know.

I use Aegis Trading Enterprises in Burbank all the time. Great guys and super knowledgable. They're always really quick with DROSing.

I always use OC Armory in Laguna Hills. They have the lowest transfer fees that I know of.

Call or email Mike, he responds fairly quickly.

I have never paid any sales tax on out of state USED gun purchases.

I guess its a use tax then because I'm not buying it from a FFL.

Well looks like I'm out of luck, all the places I have contacted will charge sales tax for transfer even if it is a private sale through Gunbroker. Looks like my choices are limited at this point.

I'm sure PPT will be taxed in the future (excuse the sarcasm).

State of CA is coming after the FFLs for the Sales Tax on out of state transfers, they gotta charge it or pay it themselves. Been happening for some years, it's not new.

It's part of California's scraping the bottom of the barrel to raise more money. Like twisting Amazon's arm to make them charge sales tax too.

There are some unscrupulous gun buyers who have been known to state a price paid for the transfer gun that is surprisingly low, perhaps being dishonest in an attempt to pay a lower sales tax.

So, yes, technically Sales Tax is already being charged on PPTs, it's just that the State finds it difficult to come after individuals without a business license or premises.
