Ammo Vs Hard Drive?

Been prepping our e-waste at work.
Been taking out the Hard Drives for further data wiping and destruction.

I have about 10 right now, all fullsize hard drives, laptop drives are usually glass or plastic and are easy to destroy, and cut yourself with (don't ask).

What should I shoot them with as the final phase of "data wiping"?
I have all the popular calibers except BMG

Was thinking of 12g 00 Buckshot or rifled slugs since they are plentiful, and a 10 round Saiga 12 mag dump should be fun too.

If I can get ahold of some 6.8, I would like to try to compare it with the other calibers. Have had a new upper but no ammo.

hammer wont do much, laptop drives yes, they will shatter,

big magnet can erase or damage data, but I am wiping them anyways, and these dont have any sensitive data, just apps and OS

Whatever caliber you choose to use don't forget to use tannerite exploding targets. Have fun!

Download the program that wipes them clean and them resell the drives.
If paranoid, a magnet to truly scramble any binary left after the program does the 14x scramble rewrite.

You tube already has a ton of drives being shot.

..and why do the people with youtube videos shooting at hard drives always shoot at the PCB or the spindle, and not the platters themselves where the data is actually at.

not many people are going to be buying 20gb hard drives,
some of they computers are 10 years old, have been stockpiling e-waste for years to do a single dump, had the space before, but we are loosing the extra storage.

Some of the computers I am getting rid for are actually close to 20 years old, but I am keeping those drives and one of the computers, Quadras if you need to know.

Before u destroy them, u should take it apart and take the magnets out. They are really strong and can be useful.

Dont shoot them . I am tired of picking up this kind of trash at my outdoor shooting areas . Spray paint cans , computer parts , propane bottles , beer and soda cans . Buy a metal shooting target (AR500) then you wont have to shoot trash anymore .
