Will property tax bill work for change of address AND POR?

So, I went into Turners today to buy a Springfield XD9. I thought I had everything I needed. My driver's license has my PO box, but I had a printout from the DMV website with my address change. Turner's rep there said they would not take that as a valid POR, since anyone can go online and print one out. He said a property tax bill would work. Now, I will go home, and get my property tax bill tonight, but will that work for the change of address as well as the POR? Being that ALL my mail gets delivered to a PO box, finding stuff with POR on it is difficult.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't know why they would accept a property tax bill. Just because you pay the property tax doesn't mean you live there. I have rental property I pay the tax on.

Yes and no...depends on place. Best to call first. When i moved, my car registration was still under the old address. I had updated my address on the internet and printed it out. I didnt go to DMV to pay five dollars to get my address change printout yet.

At Turners and Ammo Bros, property tax worked. When i went to Bass Pro, they denied it and instead asked for the internet printed change of address.

Best bet is to go to DMV and ask for the change of address for five bucks. NOT the brown card they give u.

For handgun, u need two forms of proof so u should also bring a utility bill.

Think of the prop tax as replacing the more common car registration.

That's my issue. Most of my documents have my PO box on them, as that is how all mail is delivered where I live. I do have the deed to my property and my property tax bill, so as long as I can locate both of those in my files, I think I'll be just fine... Thank you for the input. Any and all input is appreciated.

I dont know if the deed will work for 2nd form of proof.

I also use PO Box but i always had at least one util bill that went to my physical address. U can even use internet printouts. Like if u have the gas company send u electronic bills, u can use those as long as the address matches.

U should call prior to going. Some FFLs are more strict than others.

straight from Turner's website for what is required to purchase a handgun:

i.Utility bills from within the last 90 days, property deeds, permanent military station orders, lease or rental agreements or government issued permits, licenses or registrations are acceptable proofs of residency that meet the CA DOJ requirements. (NOTE- alien residents, immigrant aliens and non-immigrant aliens must provide residency that also meets Federal guidelines.

And the rep at turners has already told me that the property tax bill will serve as POR as well, so I figure if I bring both the property tax bill and the deed to the house, they should work. (If that's true, I can't tell you how happy I am to own my house and not have a mortgage on it currently)...

Sorry for keep replying instead of editing, im on my phone.

Fyi, some bills sent to your PO box would say the service address. For example,

              They send it to
              PO Box 123

              And somewhere it state
              Service at
              123 main st

I know how it is brother. I am on my phone a lot too. I am definetly gonna run through ALL of my bills to see what I can find. Worst case, I'll find the house deed, and my prop tax bill, and go from there.

Next question, I realized that my cable bill has the correct physical address on it as the service address, but I am paperless with them. I assume most places will take a printout of the statement as proof as long as the address is correct?

Went to Turners in Rancho Cucamonga, and they ended up using my property tax bill as both the POR and change of address verification. I had a printout of a utility bill, but they didn't even look at it. Best part of all, I will have my new Springfield Armory XD9 in my hands on Nov. 2 !!!!
