Halloween prop rifle? Prefer to not be shot by the police.

I need a rifle prop for my halloween costume, but I'd rather not be refused entry to bars, or be shot by the police. What are my options?

Or am I stupid for even thinking of walking around outside with anything that looks like a gun in California?

    Preferably a not-black rifle.

I would not carry a prop gun (or one with orange tape) in any state on Halloween.

I have a foam ar15 that is left over from cutting my rifle into a pelican case. That's what I'm using for my costume.

I wouldn't do it, but more so for the reason if you're really going to a bar it's going to get awkward handling a long arm and a drink.

If you're not going to drink...well, I guess, but then why are you at a bar?

I can't cite the PC code, but IIRC, if you wear a costume that conceals your identity-i.e. mask, hood, or face paint/makeup, carrying anything that resembles a firearm whether it be plastic, foam, wood, or whatever is against the law in the prk-regardless of color......

I've always wondered about the clips I've seen on TV of guys at Comic Con wearing a stormtrooper costume and carrying a stormtrooper gun which was basically a modified Sterling machine gun.

Nerf rifle, the brighter the better, but otherwise seems like a bad idea
