Brommeland Max Con V Holster Review

I received my Brommeland Max Con V holster (3" 1911) for my EMP last week. I thought I would post a quick review on my initial impressions. I had initially tried a CBST but it just did not work out for me - not comfortable and printed more than I could accept. Not a knock against Crossbreed - I love my MiniTuck for my Kahr - just did not work for me. After much research I decided on the Max Con V and I could not be happier.

Ordering was great! Gary is very accommodating (outstanding customer service) and does excellent work. The quality of the product far exceeded my expectations. Follow the break in instructions and the gun will fit like a glove. I'm still breaking the holster in but it is becoming more comfortable by the day. The higher cant works out excellent and tilts the handle up into the small of the back while providing a very easy draw capability. It has an extremely slim profile which is why I wanted this holster to begin with. At least for me, the holster needs to be worn back in the 4-4:30 position which is what I think Gary recommends.

I did have some minor issues I wanted to pass on. The belt loop on the front of the holster is very tight. I have a crossbreed 1 1/2" belt and I could not snap the loop around the belt. After talking to Gary he said just thread the belt through the loop for a couple of weeks and it will loosen up. In Gary's defense I think he does mention something about that on his website - I just did not catch it. In the long run I think it will be fine but it may warrant a belt change if it does not loosen up.

The final issue was very concerning at first but I was able to resolve it. I have a Springfield installed single-sided safety on my EMP. While breaking in the holster (unloaded of course) I had a few instances where the safety was knocked off! I was almost ready to give Gary a call then I realized what was happening. When holstering I need to be careful to align the gun with the "sweat guard" or the edge may catch the safety and knock it off. I was holstering the gun from back to front (if that makes sense) and this was causing the problem. Probably just me but I wanted to pass that on. I want to emphasize that I DO NOT think that is a design issue.

Bottom line - an excellent holster! I think it is worth a try if you are in the market for a quality holster.
