This isn't because I think I'm good enough. I was just wondering. What does it take to get sponsored to shoot for a living? I'm sure others here would love to be able to shoot guns as their job or to receive free ammo.

Any sponsored shooters on here. I'm assuming there are some politics as well like in all things.

I'm not good enough to have ever even thought about it but the true pro shooters are really the very top shooters, extremely talented and at the top of their sport. Others need not apply.

That's what I'm saying. I've never competed. I played golf professionally for 3 years. So whatever I do now I think about what the best are doing and how good are they. I'm sure my wife sees this as a flaw in my character.

Just grew up shooting guns and hunting etc. Just never have been a part of or seen any competitive shooting.

You gotta win lots of comps first.
Make headlines. Then companies will want their name on your jersey.

This plus the number of pro shooters is very small, nothing like golf.

Yeah I didn't plan on going all out or anything. I was just sitting here reading posts and it crossed my mind to ask you guys about it.

Maybe I'll settle for being the best shooter at the range I'm visiting, for that day, during that hour ha ha.

Actually found out today that I have a client who is a past National Champ. Needless to say I was impressed. I'm sure he could teach me a few things.

There are four questions of value in life... What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for.

Like any other sport, there are many levels of sponsorship. Even the very top shooters with multiple sponsors make a lot of their earnings from winning purses. That said, yes, there are a few shooters here who make their livings winning competitions, endorsing product and some have branched out to also build or modify firearms on a commercial basis.

PPC is a pretty low profile sport. If he's sponsored, it may not be for as much as an IPSC or 3-gun champion.

The quickest route is to win Top Shot.

Hard life. Depending on where you live, you couldn't do it without a day job. And truth be told, your skill level isn't as important as your ability to push product and offer exposure to the brand.

I have shot with and against the best long-range shooters in the world. Although we have industry sponsors, I don't know of anyone who even receives enough support to cover the costs of training and competition, let alone enough to live on. Long-range shooting is not a poor man's sport and we greatly appreciate what our sponsors do for us.
