Most amount of guns purchased in a month?

I've had a lot of firearms selling/buying activity recently.

I just picked up a pistol last week, I PPT a OLL rifle to a Calgunner, I'm selling another pistol to another calgunner, and this week I'll be DROSing 2 stripped OLLs and a Benelli M1 shotgun, then in early July, I'll be signing for another pistol that's waiting for me at my FFL. I also want to actually purchase a Vector V-93 this week (availability might be very dry soon) and probably a PTR-91 next month at the Del Mar gun show.

I'd like to put the shotgun, 2 OLLs, and the Vector V-93 on one DROS form if I could.

Will this raise any flags with the DoJ considering the number of firearms I'm buying and selling? Just curious how many firearms transactions would cause raised eyebrows or something at the DoJ or ATF.

That is a negative to your question.. Only if you buy like more than 5 of the same kind/make/model of a gun.. Or at least that is what I have been told..

I bought three Japanese Nambu pistols once and I was told that ATF was asking the dealer if I was selling them in Mexico.

Biiiig market for 8mm Nambu in Guadalajara.

You just got to realize that not all ATF agents are experienced and that anything you might do may bring a question to their mind.

Hopefully you won't have to be out of pocket to aid in their training.

I sold 27 firearms to one guy on one transaction. All long guns, fitting in a 5 gal bucket.

Not one gun was complete or even close to working. During my audit the auditor got a little excited about this paperwork. I told him what was purchased and in what condition.

The US Dept. of Justice sent two agents to his home. They asked him to produce those firearms. When he pulled the bucket of guns out of the safe, they looked at the bucket, looked at each other, and said we wont be bothering you any more.

I got a call from the ATF asking me to see the 8 guns I bought from an old timer. I said come on over. They never called me back.

I bought a lot of guns over the years I am sure I am on all kinds of lists, I dont do anything illegal so it is moot. They tend to leave us collectors alone.

At what point are you classified as a collector? Or do you need to have the C&E license?

One reaches "collector" status once you have gone thru the "hunting gun", "self defense /home defense gun", "target shooting gun", "plinking gun", "it's for the kids when the grow up gun" and "just because I want it gun" stages with the significant other. After one progresses thru those stages and they find that they no longer hold water with said spouse for getting yet another gun, then one is automatically upgraded to "collector" status. This is the final and most highly sought after stage generally held to one's death.

So getting this Vector shouldn't break the camel's back right?

My local FFL told me they once did 20 new long guns on one DROS for a customer because he wanted to save money. The FFL was pretty sure DROSing that many firearms at a time will throw up red flags with DoJ / BATF.

3 or more guns on the same DROS requires the FFL to send a notice to the ATF I have about 6 of those on file.

Purchasing several handguns within a few days requires that the FFL notify BATFE.

There is no such requirement for reporting multiple longgun purchases that I am aware of.

That makes sense, I have bought multiple Handguns many times and always get the stink eye from my FFL. More work for no more money.

Yeah.. Thanks to you, I had to fill out my first "notification of multiple handgun purchase" form, and send it off to the feds.
