BLM areas closed due to shutdown?

Since national parks etc are closed due to the shutdown, does that pretty much mean that BLM areas are all offlimits right now to go shooting?

    Nope.

I went out shooting on BLM land in AZ last weekend and the Ranger said the campgrounds would be shut down, but not the open land. They're shutting down services, not restricting land usage.

They lock the gates where the gates can be locked. But most
have fences with entrance ways big enough to accommodate a
single person, so it is a correct statement that they can't stop you-
unless of course obama is going to station DC police just outside
the perimeter like he did with the open air monuments.

yeah; costing more money than leaving them be.

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm meeting some out of town friends in about an hour to take them mountain biking. Please let me know the next time you meet up! The range will be closing for the season soon, but I often head out to Johnson Valley for free range shooting. Hopefully the government doesn't Barrycade™ the entire high desert!

Yeah they're closing down the whole desert. Stay indoors.

BLM, not likely to be closed, there's unfenced entrances to BLM just north of me. No one is going to be stopping people from entering BLM land north of me.

On another note, I talked to an Army friend late last night, he's currently placed in the Redding/Shasta area. He said this shut down is really screwing him over. I said, why are you not working? (Not getting paid) He said, no I still have to work, he mostly does recruiting now days, he already did two long tours in Iraq. He said, there's people in government positions he must communicate with on a ragular bases who are not around due to the shut down. He said, it's really complicating his line of work. What a pain in the butt for him and others in a similar situation.

IMO., the Feds should manage their money better to eliminate the possiblity of a shut down from happening in the first place.
