Thought I would share this for people in the Central Valley, Madera County Undersheriff Michael Salvador that will be running for sheriff in 2014 advised that if elected he will continue the high rate of issuing ccw permits that Madera County has. For those of you that are not aware Madera County sits just North of Fresno County with a population of approximately 150,000 with 2 incorporated cities within it Chowchilla and Madera.
Salvador advised that prior to becoming Undersheriff in January of 2013 that for 10 years he was Adminstrative Lieutenant with the Madera County Sheriff's Department and has a CCW Permit approval rate of approximately 99% of people who applied for them got them. Salvador is very proud of the rate that he approved and the department issued CCW permits. Everybody eligible needs a right to protect themselves if needed.
Madera County is one of the few counties that only wants the statement "for protection" as just cause to issue a ccw permit. So enless your a convicted felon or have had certain misdemeanors and are a resident of Madera County only reason most don't have CCW Permits is that they have not applied.
I hope to see Salvador as the new Sheriff based on his past issuing of CCW permits we know they will continue, the other candiates we have no idea if they will continue to issue CCW permits or not.
