shooting on blm land

hope this forum is the right place for this question. going up to the cabin near portola. have target shot at a place named ross meadows many times. wondering if i am supposed to have a valid hunting license to target shoot there. deer season just opened a couple a weeks ago. never really gave it any thought till a friend asked me about the legality of it. thanks for any input...captn-tin

Not an expert but as someone who shoots on BLM land; I think if you don't shoot any deer you should be good.

National forests have different rules for shooting and might be what your thinking of.
