couldnt hit a barn door when i was inside the barn.

Tendonitis is a bi..h i have no problem shooting a rifle as the butt to my shoulder steadys the barrel, but when picking up a handgun today my arm and hand could not stop shaking, even resting the gun on the bench did nothing to curve it.

Anybody else have this trouble and how have you dealt with it.

What was most upsetting is i was shooting for the first time my HK P2000 lem in 40sw hit the target twice with that one.

Next up and by far my most favorite gun ever fired the HKP7M8 even gives tendonitis a run for its money, this gun is just something else after the initial cocking with the front cocker, and the first shot is fired the pressure needed for the rest of the shots is feather weight almost hair trigger, i was completely shocked by its ease and its accuracy even for a disabled person, which i felt like today.

I advise everyone to get one of these guns while you can - MAGNIFICO

rifles are more fun anyways, shooting accurate is cool but the best part is the boom anyway

I have to say i think your right, its much more relaxing shooting a rifle than it is shooting a handgun

I get the shaking occasionally, usually after a few magazines and worse when it's hot out. Drinking some water and taking a break usually gets rid of it.

I feel your pain, literally. I got tendonitis in my left arm (fortunately, since I'm right handed) and it's been a real p.i.t.a. My buddy's a chiropractor and he always harps at me to ice it down.

It's been 3 months now and it's finally starting to heal up; I'm maybe back to 80% in that arm. So be kind to your arm (dont lift with it, and especially when the arm is extended) and be patient and it will eventually get better. I did wear some of the braces and they help for a while, so use them on bad days. I took a lot of ibuprofen over the last three months when it got too painful.

Also try to find a comfortable sleeping position that doesn't stress the injury. I found sleeping on a couch, with my bad elbow in the crack between the bottom cushions and back cushion immobilized my arm and kept it from being stressed during sleep. .

I'm not a doctor but I've had tendonitis. Things that I learned. First the injury is a result of gripping. Holding something tightly usually work or play related. It is an inflamation and it calls up an imune responce. THis responce can cause damage and scaring. So the treatment is to minimize the inflamation. You can take anti-inflamatory drugs, ie ibuprofen, but it is hard on your stomach. and you need about 1200 mg /day for anti- inflamatory effect, I think the best treatment is ice. It is cheap and it does no harm. The other result of the inflamation is it creates scaring and adhesions in the muscle fiber. This can be broken up by massage across the grain.
The bad news is it seems to have to run it's course. Mine lasted about 9 months.
              good luck

Shoot one handed with your support hand while the stong side recovers. That is what I did when I had shooter's elbow until it went away. +1 on icing it.

Brace & ice....with a healthy dose of Ibuprofen. Time to learn how to shoot with your weak/off hand.

+1 on the ice, relative rest, ibuprofen/aleve, and brace(depending on where you're hurting).

A couple other things. Check your technique (or have someone else check it), make sure there isn't something you're doing that's creating the issue. Also, once you're feeling better, work on some other strength exercises (e.g. grip strength, wrist curls, etc.). Both of these will help you avoid similar injuries in the future.

I had tendinitis about 10 months ago due to my job....solution: I quit after manager didn't believe the doctor and wouldn't give me time off or something else to do at work. I found that ICE, Ibuprofen (800mg2xdaily) and a wrist splint worked well and I haven't had a problem in 8 months.
