For those who are contemplating a move to Nevada.
I took my 8 hour training on Saturday 9/28/13. Included 30 rounds at a target at 7 yards (based on most gunfights are at 7 yards or less and the knife attack 21 ft = 7 yards distance)
Walked in without an appointment to the local county (Douglas in my case) sheriff's department (went through metal detector - there is a sign to leave your knife in the vehicle etc.) today at 11:15 AM and went to the Records/CCW window. No lines to wait. Took a whopping 10-15 minutes for the entire process. Cost $97.50 for permit. Paid another $10 for AZ finger print.
Wait to obtain permit is 120 days. However, the nice lady mentioned most are completed in 60 and they will call when it is ready to be picked up.
No waiting, no interviews and the entire app was 6 pages of which the first page was the most extensive. The rest was signatures and acknowledgements.
By the way, as of October 1, 2013, if you qualify with a semi-auto or revolver handgun, your CCW is good for either. The previous CCW cards would list make model and whether it was revolver or semi-auto with no serial number as Nevada considers putting a serial number on a CCW as registration.
An excellent experience.
Also, Clark County (Las Vegas area) has additional requirements.
