Wife signed up for home protection class! (Something froze over)

So I signed up for an NRA Basic Home Protection class. When my wife found out, she said "Maybe we should both sign up!"

This is coming from a woman who used to turn white as a sheet when I pulled out a gun, even if it was taken apart. I took her to a couple beginners NRA classes a few years ago and a few trips to BLM land for plinking.

When I said "I guess it's time to get you your own gun" she wouldn't bite, but at least there's hope!

I was in the same boat as you. Thirty years ago when I came home with a Colt Python she said "not in my house" so I kept it in the safe, 'out of sight, out of mind'.
Now she has her own Glock 17, yesterday we took our 3rd gun course, Pistol Home Defense, she's a better shot than I am.

"Women on Target" is one of the best things for this situation.

There are a lot more women open to learning how to defend themselves. My mother inlaw finally asked for me to take her out shooting to get over her fear. Her mission bus was hijacked in Guatemala 15 years ago. They were tied up, blindfolded, and AK's put to the back of their heads. Slowly but surely she's opened up.

My wife on other hand had to accept guns because, when we met I had my CCW and was around guns everyday due to my college jobs. She has her own guns these days.

I'll have to take a look at the NRA home defense classes. Sounds interesting.

I believe it is freezing. My Sister and her life long friend called and asked to come up to the Ranch when they arrived they asked if I could show them my guns. ???? We went over basics in safety and I had a couple of old Charter Arms undercover specials they really liked. After many trips up here the friend showed me her CCW from Butte county in California. My sister is taking her shooting test in October and when she passes will have her permit. I gave each of them one of the Charter Arms through a FFL sale. They will still vote Democrat but the change is amazing.

Becareful of wifes mine now wants the chair facing into the room and takes her permit very serious with practice and paid instruction. Next she will out shoot me. I dread that day.

I hope that's true. I live up north of the bay area, but I signed a friend of mine in San Diego up for the class down there. She's never shot before, but is very pro-gun...and was slacking off and not seeking out and finding her own class. So I just signed her up and told her to keep the 13th open. Now she's excited as all hell and can't wait for it.

I put my wife through Women on Target as well and it was a positive part of the conversion process. Taught by ladies and very slow stress. Highly recommended!

Women on Target is a great way to help women become comfortable with firearms. The setting is a tailor made environment for first time female shooters.

Also if more people volunteer to help those classes then they can have them more often with more instructors per student. So get volunteering! It's probably one of the most rewarding volunteer experiences.
